Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, Military

$99 a month, unlimited, from the day we open. Not a promotion with an end date — a standing rate, because the people who have to put hands on somebody at work should not be learning that on the job.

The same room as everybody else

There is no separate class for this, on purpose. You train with the rest of the room — people who do this as a sport, who train more than you do, and who are not going along with anything to be polite.

What makes it transfer is somebody who genuinely does not want you to do the thing.

Any technique works against a partner who cooperates. The reason grappling shows up in this line of work at all is that it is one of the few things you can practise at close to full effort, against a resisting adult, over and over, without anybody getting hurt. That is the whole training method, and it is what a segregated class of people with identical backgrounds gives you less of, not more.

Most of it is no-gi jiu-jitsu — controlling somebody who is bigger than you, getting out from underneath, finishing a position. The rest is wrestling and takedowns: closing distance, hand fighting, ending up on top rather than underneath.

Seven already came through

Before there was a website, before the permanent room, seven people from law enforcement had already come through the trial. That was not a campaign — it was word of mouth inside a shift.

The $99 rate is unlimited training, from the day we open, and every other rate is published too.

Questions about the rate
Who qualifies for the $99 rate?
Law enforcement, fire, EMS and active military. Bring your credentials the first time and that is the whole process.
Is it a separate class?
No, and that is deliberate. You train in the same room as everybody else, against people who do this for sport and are not going along with anything. Resistance from someone who genuinely does not want you to do the thing is what makes it transfer.
Do I need any background in this?
No. Plenty of people arrive having never grappled. One class, all levels, and nobody is thrown in with the biggest person in the room to see what they are made of.
I work shifts. Can I still train?
There are morning and evening classes — Tue – Thu at 7:00 AM, and Mon – Fri at 6:00 PM. The membership is unlimited and does not count sessions, so an irregular week costs the same as a full one.
Is the first week free for me too?
Yes. Same as everybody — train the week, then decide.
